Marshalsay Leather Belts
For the Marshalsay Leather Belts I use buckles that were originally used by the Fire Services as a quick release mechanism for rolls of fire hoses. They are now exclusively made and hand finished at the last remaining brass foundry here in the UK. They make an interesting belt buckle which can be fastened in the conventional way but just flip the side of the buckle to quickly release the belt – a talking point if nothing else!
The belts are 32mm (1 1/4″) wide with matching double leather keepers, made in 4mm thick Sedgwicks bridle leathers. The buckles are solid brass or nickel plated (silver) solid brass and available in a range of colours and sizes.
